Pooch’s Art Show

Recently, we attended an gallery show of our friend Pooch’s paintings. The show was fun for me as it is not the sort of thing I usually attend. It was at a warehouse in Miami. There were other warehouses along the same street with shows going on at the same time. The places were loaded with artistic looking people, which also increased the people watching fun quotient to an 11.

Pooch’s show included some previous work and a set of four called, “Muerto Mecanico”. His painting are nothing short of amazing. The detail and depth of each piece equate to being able to stare at the pieces for long periods of time without ever being finished. Even with all the detail the paintings don’t feel overwhelming or overworked. They are quite simply exquisite.

After the show our friends, Leasha and Jerry, took took us to a Miami Beach sushi place called, Katana. The place was a tiny hole-in-the-wall. There was no sign, either. The patrons sit around the sushi bar which has a small channel of water between the bar and the sushi chefs. It holds little boats with plates of sushi. Each color plate has a price and you take what you want and they figure your bill by your stack of plates. The food was great and the experience was very fun. We would go there often if it weren’t far away in Miami Beach.
